FIELD & TRANSLATIONAL RESEARCH
Spiritual Health Research
Heaven Foundation / Fondation CIEL supports field research that most large commercial funders overlook. Our mission is to advance studies that improve access, strengthen community health, and explore the mind–heart–spirit connection in ways that traditional funding agencies rarely support.
Our projects span from door-to-door cardiovascular screening in urban Africa to innovative global studies on emotional stress, sleep, dreams, and spiritual well-being. We are also expanding into affordable, low-cost treatment research, including the development of pragmatic therapies such as intranasal timolol for acute migraine—a potentially fast, safe, and accessible intervention for patients in under-resourced communities.
OUR CORE RESEARCH THEMES
1. Cardiometabolic health
Community-based hypertension, diabetes, and cardiovascular risk studies in urban and peri-urban settings.
2. Mind–Heart–Spirit interactions
Exploring how emotions, stress, and inner life influence atherosclerosis, arrhythmias, blood pressure, and healing.
3. Sleep, dreams, and mental health
Large online surveys examining how dreams—including sexual dreams—reflect psychological and emotional burden.
4. Precision cardiovascular prevention
Integrating emotional stress, biomarkers, and lipid-lowering strategies to reduce long-term cardiovascular risk.
5. Affordable non-profit-driven therapies
Developing and testing low-cost interventions (e.g., intranasal timolol) designed specifically for global accessibility, not pharmaceutical profit.
FEATURED FIELD STUDIES & PUBLICATIONS
A Call to Action: Hypertension in Urban Cameroon
Our team screened 181 adults in Yaoundé and found 59.7% hypertension prevalence, with rates exceeding 75% among adults aged 46–60. Shockingly, nearly 9 out of 10 hypertensive individuals were untreated. This study highlights an urgent need for improved screening, culturally tailored prevention, and low-cost treatment pathways in Sub-Saharan Africa. Full PDF available on request
Mind–Heart Links in Atherosclerotic Disease
This review synthesizes cutting-edge evidence showing that emotional stress, grief, anger, and chronic psychological burden are causal drivers of atherosclerosis and acute cardiac events.
Emotional triggers can transiently raise myocardial infarction risk by 8–20× via neuro-immune and endothelial mechanisms.

The SLEEP Study: Sexual Dreams, Body Responses & Mood
In a U.S. dataset of 301 adults, 99.7% reported sexual dreams, with over half experiencing them several times per month. Nearly half reported dreams involving both sexes, highlighting profound subconscious fluidity. These dreams were physiologically active—raising heart rate, triggering sweating, and influencing daytime mood and concentration. Read the full PDF: Sleep Study (Sexual Dreams).
Unveiling the Subconscious: Sexual Dreams & Mental Health
This follow-up study found that frequent sexual dreams were significantly more common in individuals with anxiety, depression, or emotional distress. The odds of frequent dreams nearly doubled in participants with a mental health diagnosis.
The findings suggest that dream patterns may function as stress markers reflecting hidden psychological burden.

Integrating Emotional Stress & Lipid Lowering in CVD Prevention
Even with very low LDL cholesterol, many patients remain at high cardiovascular risk. This paper introduces the Emotion–Lipid Synergy Model, showing how emotional surges, inflammation, and autonomic activation act as the “trigger” on top of lipid plaque.
This model charts a new path for precision psychocardiology, integrating stress profiling, wearable technology, and mind–heart interventions.

FUTURE DIRECTIONS:
ACCESS, SPIRITUAL HEALTH & INNOVATION
- 1. Affordable access-driven clinical trials
Including our emerging initiative to evaluate intranasal timolol as a rapid, low-cost acute migraine therapy for patients in Cameroon, Rwanda, and under-served communities worldwide. - 2. Spiritual health and clinical recovery
Studies exploring how inner coherence, purpose, compassion, and spiritual well-being influence heart health, blood pressure regulation, and disease resilience. - 3. Digital mind–heart–spirit tools
Developing simple, community-centered digital tools to help individuals track stress, sleep quality, and spiritual well-being alongside traditional clinical risk factors.
4. SpiritIndex™: Translating Spiritual Health Into Clinical Practice
Our goal is to bring SpiritIndex™ into hospitals, clinics , military medicine, community programs, and global health settings as an evidence-informed component of holistic care—much like vital signs or mental-health screening tools.
- We welcome partners, donors, researchers, clinicians, and students who wish to join us in advancing research that is scientifically rigorous, spiritually informed, and truly accessible to all.
